Intro – Standards for Toilets
My intention of opening “The Shit Blog” is to share information about clean and filthy toilets. I recently had to confront several insanitary situations where I thought if I would have known, I could have avoided those filthy situations. Nowadays, we have possibilities to surf on web and collect information about almost anything. e.g. TripAdvisor, smartTraveller, etc, give us possibilities to review comments and advices from people who already have used the products and services. However, I checked up on internet and was disappointed to find no relevant information about the topic.
According to Wiki, “A toilet is a plumbing fixture primarily intended for the disposal of human excreta: urine and fecal matter. Additionally, vomit and menstrual waste are sometimes disposed of in toilets in Western societies. The word toilet describes the fixture and, especially in British English, the room containing the fixture. In American English, the latter is euphemistically called a restroom or bathroom. The latter term often describes a room that also contains a bath tub. A room with only a toilet and a sink is sometimes called a half-bathroom, a half bath, or a powder room.”
The most popular toilets are made by Toto, American Standard, Kohler, ELjer, Crane, Gerber, Porcher, and Duravit.
I personally do not care about the brand, shape or size of the toilet but it has to be hygienic. Mostly the public toilets aren’t well cleaned. However, in general, there are certain countries, cities, airports which are rated as hygienic. Besides, there are curtain hotels, restaurants and bars which try to attract customers by representing its cleanliness.
After my experience and the limited information on this topic, I would like to share with you my experiences/comments on public/private toilets which I would come across that you should avoid or use!
